Aventurine Quartz August 11 2014, 0 Comments
Whenever I visit a gemstone shop I love searching through the trays and drawers for unusual shapes and colours.
Recently I found a small box of teeny irregularly cut aventurine quartz hiding in a corner. These stones are unique for a couple of reasons. It's difficult to find abstract shapes in small sizes, apart from as drilled beads. Aventurine quartz also tends to be much greener than these pieces, which are a soft white/green with darker pieces through them.
The name of this stone comes from the Italian phrase A Ventura, meaning by chance. It has been thought to increase libido, and release fear and anxiety.
This lovely soft coloured quartz is gorgeous set in sterling silver. I have already had several comments on the necklace I made for myself. Each piece of the quartz is different in colour and shape so each piece I make with these stones will be unique.
Keep an eye on my website for necklaces made from this quartz over the next few weeks, or send me an email to have first pick of the available pieces for a unique ring or necklace.
